Learn the Language of the Quran

A four-month online course with Shaykh Ibrahim Madani

Understand the Qur’an in Its Own Words

Many of us recite the Qur’an every day without understanding what we are reading. This four-month online course closes that gap — not by putting you through years of Arabic grammar, but by teaching you the language of the Qur’an as it is actually used in the āyāt.

Classes begin on 15 September 2026 and run live on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, taught by Shaykh Ibrahim Madani. Every session is recorded, so you can catch up in your own time, and every Wednesday closes with a live question and answer session.

The course is delivered through eAlim, the online learning platform of the Seminary of Sacred Knowledge in Amherstburg, Ontario, offered together with Darul Uloom Al Madania in Buffalo, New York. Because it is fully online, students from Windsor, Essex County, the Greater Toronto Area, Western New York and further afield can all join the same live class.

Course Objective

Two clear aims, held throughout the four months

A Practical Grasp of the Language

Gain a working understanding of the language of the Qur’an — the vocabulary and patterns that carry its meaning — so that recitation becomes comprehension.

Meaning Without Heavy Grammar

Learn the meanings of the āyāt directly, without first working through years of complex naḥw and ṣarf. The focus stays on what the verse is saying and why.

What You Will Study

Four areas of study, covered verse by verse

Causes of Revelation

The Asbāb al-Nuzūl behind each passage, along with the message, theme and objective of the verse. Knowing why a verse came down changes how you read it.

Lessons for Daily Life

Practical lessons and reflections drawn from the āyāt that you can act on the same week you study them, rather than knowledge that stays theoretical.

Clear, Concise Translation

A careful translation of the āyāt that stays close to the Arabic while remaining readable, so the wording of the verse and its meaning stay connected in your mind.

Clarifying Misconceptions

Common misreadings of well-known verses are addressed directly, so you can answer questions confidently and read contested passages with clarity.

“The best of you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to already know Arabic to join this course? +
No formal grammar background is assumed. The course is built specifically to teach the meanings of the āyāt without going deep into complex Arabic grammar, so students who can read the Qur’an but do not understand it are exactly who it is designed for.
When does the course start and how long does it run? +
Classes begin on 15 September 2026 and run for four months. Sessions are held every Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Eastern Time.
How much does the course cost? +
The standard rate is $30 per month. Registrations received before 30 August 2026 qualify for the early bird rate of $25 per month for the full four months.
What happens if I miss a class? +
Every class is recorded and made available afterwards, so you can catch up at a time that suits you. You can then bring any questions to the live Q&A session held each Wednesday.
Can I join from outside Canada? +
Yes. The course is taught entirely online through the eAlim platform, so students can join live from anywhere. Class times are given in Eastern Time.
How is this different from the Alim Course? +
This is a short four-month online course focused on understanding the meanings of the Qur’an. The Part-Time Alim Course is a multi-year, in-person programme covering Arabic, Fiqh, Hadith, Seerah and Islamic history in depth. Students looking to memorise the Qur’an should see the Hifdh programme, and those wanting a broader one-year foundation should look at the Islamic Foundations Course.
